Norway is a beautiful country that is full of large mountains and deep fjords. Norway is relatively safe from the dangers of most natural disasters. However, there are a couple of natural threats that Norway must prepare for. These two are mass movements and blizzards. While not initially life threatening on a massive scale, they can cause long term damage to the country if not properly mitigated. The first disaster I will address are Mass Movements. Mass movements are a common occurrence in Norway. Because the country is mostly mountainous with little flat land, the shifting of rocks and soil should be expected. One form of these disasters are the mass movements that strike fjords. Fjords are inlets of the ocean that are between steep cliffs. The sudden change in altitude makes it easy for gravity to mold the landscape. This makes the roads in these areas a high risk zone for mass wasting. Norway is at high risk of coastal erosion. Climate change has seen increasing water levels across the planet. This has hit Norway hard as the increased waves have begun to erode the wetlands and beaches. Norway has a long coastline so this is a big issue. The effects of this can include damage to transportation and infrastructure. This can have long term problems for the country as it will no longer be safe for people to live in certain areas of the country. A way to prevent further erosion is to construct seawalls. The most common form of extreme weather in Norway comes from blizzards. Norway is known for its cold weather and in the winter it can get to freezing temperatures. An example of how bad it could get was the infamous Carolean Death March, where in 1719, 3000 people were killed in a Norwegian Storm.  In modern times, it is easier to weather a blizzard. There are plans people can make to handle them. For a place like Norway. It is important to always check the weather forecast. Next is to gather supplies, like food and tools like flashlights. Norway is no stranger to Mass Movements within it's country. The mass wasting effects most roads that are in the fjord regions all year.  While mass waisting is natural, humans can increase the risk. Week 5

Norway has two active volcanoes. The first is located on the island of Jan Mayen and is called Beerenberg. Beerenberg is 2,277 meters tall. The second the second is in the ocean and is called Haakon Mosby. The one in the ocean releases methane into the water. Source: cage.uit.no

Week 3

Unlike other countries, Earthquakes in Norway are quite rare. This is due to it's location not being a hot bed for large continental shifts. The ones they get are usually smaller and are on the coastlines. These earthquakes are a result of something called "ground rebounding".  Like Norway itself, the Norwegian Sea is not likely to experience Seismic activity. The seismicity of the Norwegian Sea is due to the "zones of weakness", faces by the yre-Cenozoic age. In conclusion, the lands of Norway and the surrounding waters, are fairly safe against threats of earthquakes.

Week 2

When it comes to tectonic plate boundaries, Norway is located on the Eurasian Plate. It has a convergent plate boundary with the Indian plate. The plate is about 3 billion years old. Norway itself is closest to the North American Plate, which is a continental plate. Norway's location is pretty stable which means that the chance of earthquakes is low.
